Bedroom Spring Makover

I looked around my bedroom with three grey walls and my black and lime wall behind the bed, I was so happy to eventually have it decorated after 14 years I plumped for an expensive sumptuous carpet to add extra comfort, I bought the finest egyptian cotton sheets I could find and a very chic duvet cover with matching throw.  My bedroom would have looked good in any home magazine, I was so proud.  The neighbours came round to view my end product and all said they were envious.  How I had longed for a room like this.  I was called away for a few days due to a family problem, when I returned late in the evening all I longed for was a lovely hot bath and to sleep in my bed, I walked in the bedroom and the sight before me I could not believe, the wind and rains had been heavy and must have blown some of my tiles off, the rain had came through the ceiling and made the insulation sodden, it broke through the ceiling onto my bed, the whole room was filthy, my gorgeous white sheets now were black and brown, the wallpaper had filthy water running down it, my bed was ruined the dirty water had seeped all the way through.  I checked my insurance documents and realised I had forgotten to renew, so I had to have the roof repaired ASAP and that left me broke, so I have been banished to the spare room until I can afford to start all over again.  My bed had to go, and as much as I washed the bedding some stains will not come out.  I have stripped the walls and I have a plasterer booked, I have decided to have the whole room plastered while he fixes the ceiling, I am hoping we can keep the carpet if the plasterer can cover it well.  A new bed is a must and as I have rheumatoid arthritis it has to be a good quality one, as sleeping is never easy as I am always in pain.  I will choose bedding which is easier to iron this time as much as Egyptian cotton is lovely, ironing it is a nightmare my bedroom can do without, I've promised myself embossed silver dessing table and stool with matching bedside tables, and a bedside docking station for my phone with capiz shell lampshades that will jingle in the breeze.  It's going to take a while, hopefully not another 14 years  I hope you enjoy reading it, and please remember to check you have renewed your insurance, as you never know when this can happen. ‘This blog post is part of the Silentnight Spring Bedroom Makeover Challenge
